Where does it come from?
Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa), which is native to Africa. The shea tree grows in countries such as Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Togo, and is particularly prevalent in the savannah regions of West Africa. The shea tree is a traditional source of food, medicine, and income for many communities in Africa. The nuts of the shea tree are harvested and processed to extract the shea butter, which is then used in a wide range of products, including cosmetics, personal care products, and food.
